When it comes to bowhunting, every hunter has that short list of gear they never leave behind. Whether you’re hunting the swamps of Florida or the hardwood ridges of Mississippi, being prepared can make all the difference between a miserable sit and a successful hunt.

In this episode of Seek and Find TV, Reese, Eric, and Scott sat down to reveal their Top 5 Must-Haves for the Hunting Woods — and though they hunt in different states and deal with different conditions, it’s clear that good gear and a heart for the outdoors go hand-in-hand.

Reese’s Top Picks: Florida Focused and Field-Tested

Reese, who spends a lot of his time bowhunting public land from his saddle in the heat and humidity of Florida, knows that staying comfortable (and bite-free) is key. His go-to items prove that being prepared for the elements can make or break a hunt.

🦟 Thermacell: “You can’t survive a warm-weather sit in Florida without one.” Enough said.

💪 Bearded Outdoors Beard Butter: More than just beard care — this stuff saves your skin and lips from cracking in those cold mornings or windy afternoons.

🎥 Insta360 Camera: Perfect for self-filming hunts, capturing every angle of the shot and the story that goes with it.

🏹 Bow Release: The one piece of gear no bowhunter wants to forget when the moment of truth arrives.

Reese’s list is a solid reflection of a southern hunter who knows how to adapt to warm, bug filled hunts and sudden cold fronts, while staying true to both craft and comfort.

Eric’s Top Picks: Mississippi-Style Hunting Essentials

Eric hunts in Mississippi, where conditions vary — one day it’s chilly and damp, the next it’s warm and muggy. His top 5 gear items show how preparation, safety, and smart tools make the hunt smoother.

🔩 GoGadget Bow Hanger: Keeps his bow secure and ready when it’s time to draw.

💡 Blood Trailing Flashlight: A must-have for those evening sits when tracking a shot buck after sunset.

🦟 Thermacell: A universal must for the South — both Reese and Eric agree this tool is non-negotiable.

🧻 Toilet Paper (but not for what you think!): You’ll have to watch the episode to hear the story behind this one — but trust us, it’s smart.

🪢 Backup Tree Safety Strap: Because safety in the stand always comes first.

Eric’s list highlights the balance between practicality and precaution — knowing that having the right tools ready can make for a safer, more effective day in the stand.

Scott’s Additions: Snacks & Scripture

When it came time for Scott to share his must-haves, he was quick to agree with both Reese and Eric. But he also had two important additions that show his personality and priorities:

🍫 Snacks — Reese’s Cups: A little energy (and humor) in the woods never hurts!

📖 The Bible: God’s Word — the most important essential in any situation, whether in the woods or in life.

Scott’s add-ons perfectly round out the list: one for the body, one for the soul.

Similar Needs, Different Hunts

What’s interesting about this conversation is how hunters from two different states — Florida and Mississippi — share so many of the same essentials.

From the Thermacell to beat the southern bugs, to tools like the bow release and GoGadget hanger for efficiency, the fundamentals don’t change much across state lines. But each hunter tailors their pack to the conditions they face — the Florida heat and bugs, or the Mississippi mix of cold mornings and thick woods.

The differences may lie in the terrain, but the mission remains the same: to hunt with purpose, stay prepared, and enjoy the time God gives us outdoors.

Faith, Brotherhood, and the Outdoors

At Bearded Outdoors USA, we believe in more than just great gear. We believe in community, conservation, and Christ — using every moment in the field as a chance to grow closer to God and to each other.

This episode is a great reminder that while we may hunt in different states and seasons, our love for the outdoors and our faith bring us together.
